the nlr experience

If N.E.R.D, The Roots, and Rage Against the Machine had a band baby, it would be Nique Love Rhodes & The NLR Experience. Led by dynamic performer and hip-hop artist Nique Love Rhodes, The NLR Experience creates hip-hop that sets your soul on fire! Their high energy, live musical experiences fuse hip-hop with funk, rock with jazz, and conscious lyrics with pop hooks and melodies to provide positive vibes, elevate social consciousness, and keep people jamming one song at a time. The NLR Experience was birthed in 2013 after meeting at various open mics and features a multi-faceted ensemble of musicians - Carlton White (drums), Rod Gaston (bass), Trey Priest (guitar), and Barry Chambliss II (piano/keyboard). NLR is not only an acronym for “Nique Love Rhodes,” but also “Next Level Revolution” - the idea of inward positive transformation that manifests in positive outward, social transformation.

A Detroit native, Carlton has 20 years of experience playing drums. He has developed to become one of the most versatile drummers in Detroit. Carlton was a member in the indie rock-pop band Two Cheers. Carlton is also a talented producer, and provides the NLR Experience with the hip-hop music foundation of the boom and the bap to keep heads and bodies rocking during live shows.
